His Eminence Joseph (Harkiolakis) is the former Metropolitan of New Zealand, and served between 2003 and August 2005.

Auxillary Bishop

He was consecrated on the 3rd of December, 1989, and served the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia as the auxillary bishop (of Arianzos). His longest term was in Adelaide, guiding the Third Archdiocesan District of South Australia and the Northern Territory. After this, he was moved to Melbourne as the second auxillary bishop, resposible for the Second Archdiocesan District of Victoria and Tasmania.

Metropolitan of New Zealand

Soon after, he was elected Metropolitan of New Zealand, against the wishes of the Archbishop of Australia. He served in New Zealand between 2003-2005; however, according to the Society of Hellenes Abroad, he resigned for health reasons; according to a priest in the country, his farewell Liturgy was on 28 Aug 2005 [1].

Metropolitan Joseph is currently retired, and living in Peiraius, Greece.
