'''The Church of India''' is compromised of six historically important episcopal Churches of Syriac tradition based in the southernmost state of Kerala and numerous evangelical Churches founded in the 19th and 20th centuries. The major episcopal Churches of Syriac tradition in India are the RomanSyro-Syrian Malankara Catholic, the Syrian Orthodox Jacobite, the MarThoma Mar Thoma Syrian, the Assyrian, Independant Syrian Church and the Indian Orthodox or Malankara Orthodox Syrian. The history and views expressed below is that of Indian Orthodox Church and may differ from the historical perspective of the other Indian Churches.
